Two versions of love

I was reading 1 Corinthians 13-14 this morning. I must have read the passage on love numerous times, but today, it reminded me how little I love others around me and how misguided my love can be. The version from The Message gives me some new perspective, so I want to share it with you.

Enjoy!

*******************************************************************************
1 Cor 13: 4-8 (The Message)
4 Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
5 Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
6 Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
7 Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
8 Love never dies.

1 Cor 13: 4-8 (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails.

A profound passage indeed. I am looking forward to seeing you to apply what you have learned from the passage to real life. Are you going to bake us more dessert as a labor of love?

Well, I have been baking quite a bit already. Actually in the summer I might bake less due to the heat, but if you have a request, I will try to accommodate.
